Tax preparation is something everyone needs, but few are experts in it. Larry Marietta, CPA, knew individuals and business owners needed timely, practical advice when it came to accounting and taxes. With a gift of explaining complicated topics in a non-technical way, Larry opened Marietta Financial Services in 1998.

The concept was quite simple. Provide great service and expertise at a reasonable price. What started as a one-man operation is now a firm of 10 employees that have served as senior advisors, managers, controllers, and partners at entrepreneurial and large organizations. The team brings a wide array of experience to the firm. Their clients know Marietta will find every benefit available to them.

We specialize in individual and business taxes, tax resolution, and assisting troubled companies.

Contacted Marietta for guidance as my employment structure changed. I had two 15 minute conversations with Larry, most of which was him telling me about his cabin. Then months later, received a bill for $1,325 for “research”. I paid it, then was charged $700 for a simple W2 return. I stuck with Marietta through this. In September I reached out for some strategy input making sure I was documenting properly and to ensure I wouldn’t have a surprise come April 15. After waiting for a call back for several weeks I was passed off to Jake. I provided documentation to him, and Larry called randomly. He stated that my withholdings look appropriate and should be even at the end of the year. After providing all information to complete taxes I received a call on April 12th (Friday before deadline on Monday to pay) and was told I owed $45,000. No acknowledgment of the September conversation. Larry advised he didn’t understand some information on the K1. He had field an extension and would need to research. I pulled my business and have sought competent advise. My shortfall has been documented properly at $7,000. If you do business with Marietta, RUN don’t walk.

I was referred to Mr Marietta to assist me with my Federal tax and Inheritance tax from some property that I inherited in 2021and sold in 2023. He informed me he could take care of everything and would file an extension with Kentucky Department of Revenue. He had asked me to answer some 12 questions that was needed which I spent 2 more days finding everything he needed, copying it and sent to him. He told me not to worry about a thing because he knew how to do his job. I sent it all to him on 5/25 and this was requested on 5/22. On 5/29 he sends me an email telling me I need to find a new tax advisor. No explanation, no nothing!!! I called his office and asked to speak to him and if they could have him return my calls. Which did not happen. I don’t know about anyone else but to me this is poor professionalism and very cowardly not to be able to explain why you just up and quit when he had taken this job in March and told me he was very capable of taking care of it all and leave it all to him. Never would I ever again leave anything in his hands.
