Indianapolis artist, Jonathan McAfee, has crafted an entire series of portraits of the local writer to be on display at the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library this July.
“I have been painting portraits of influential people for the past several years and Vonnegut is the one person that I have gone back to, time and time again,” said McAfee.
The new series of paintings created exclusively for this show will be go on display beginning July 11with an opening reception that evening from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. The show’s title, “What People Like About Me is Indianapolis” comes from a speech Vonnegut gave here in 1986.
The exhibit will stay on display throughout the month of July. The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library is located at 340 N. Senate Avenue, downtown Indy.
Indy’s Vonnegut-inspired restaurant, Bluebeard, will be catering the event along with beer from local favorite, Flat 12 Bierwerks. Music will be provided by DJ Stroblé.
