The gates open today to the 166th Indiana State Fair! Folks have been drawn to the Indiana State Fair, from far and wide, for nearly two hundred years. Of course, the incentives are obvious; the annual celebration offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the state’s heritage, enjoy various forms of entertainment, and savor unique flavors from across the state. No doubt, the Indiana State Fair demonstrates all that Indiana has to offer.

Each year, the event is given a theme that guides the festivities; this year, the theme is basketball. In partnership with Pacers Sports & Entertainment, the 2023 Indiana State Fair is promoted as “Celebrating Basketball: The State That Grew The Game.” Throughout the running of the event, patrons will be able to engage in various activities that revolve around the basketball heritage of the state.

Support Local

Hoosier businesses from across the state gather at the state fairgrounds to be vendors for the Indiana State Fair. Whether they offer food, beverage, or keepsakes, each business had made the choice to invest in the event for the opportunity to connect with crowd and showcase their particular product. More than ever, it is important to uplift those who take the initiative to invest in our local economy. Purchases are phenomenal support, but they are not the only form of support you can give to a small, local business. Take the opportunity to learn about a particular business, follow social media outlets for vendors that interest you, and share your positive experience with your network. Every act of support to a small, local business makes an impact.

Entertainment

In addition to the many basketball-themed activities, the 2023 Indiana State Fair will also showcase a variety of other noteworthy entertainment options, including concerts, rides and attractions featured on the Midway, various animal encounters, and more. No matter your interests, there is something for everyone at the 2023 Indiana State Fair! Indiana Owned is proud to share that our member Scorebox 21 is presenting the FIRST EVER Indiana State Fair Cornhole competition. Be one of the fifty-four allotted teams to toss for $2,000 on July 29, 2023 at 1 pm EST.

A Taste of the Fair

While some favor attractions, many flock to the fair for the opportunity to savor the many unique food selections. Options include tried-and-true favorites—from corndogs, tenderloins, and funnel cakes—to newfangled taste creations made to honor the theme of the fair. No doubt, your tastebuds will not be disappointed by the array of delicious options available. Indiana Owned members Moon Drops Distillery and St. Elmo Steak House will be participating in the Taste and Create series. Moon Drops Distillery will offer samples of select bourbon, moonshine, and the Hoosier Slam cocktail. St. Elmo Steak House will offer samples of their Cherry Vanilla Infused Bourbon, ready-to-pour cocktails, and Espresso MOOtini cocktail.

Updates Safety Regulations

Safety is of utmost importance at the Indiana State Fair. To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to feel safe throughout the entirety of the event, various measures are put in place for the public to obey. Various policies have been created and/or updated for the 2023 Indiana State Fair, notably the new Unaccompanied Minor Policy, Bag Policy, and updated Prohibited Items list.
